Clients come to me when living in survival mode isn’t enough

And they want to experience more freedom, safety, and self-trust

My Areas of Focus

“Therapy is not just a conversation; it is an experience.”

Psychotherapist | Tucson, Arizona

Hi, I’m Amanda, a trauma therapist in Tucson, Arizona. Welcome to Threshold Counseling. This space is for people who are looking for secure footing after complex trauma, religious trauma, or betrayal.

My work as a therapist is grounded in evidence-based practice, while also informed by my life experiences as a trauma survivor. It is my life’s work to support others in developing lives rooted in freedom, safety, and self-trust.

A cozy therapy space with a tan leather sofa, a wooden side table with a lamp, artwork on the walls, a framed quote, a plant in the foreground, and a beige rug on wooden flooring.

Therapy with me is:

Grounded
A place to plant your feet and settle in.

Collaborative
I’ll follow your lead and sometimes gently challenge you - but therapy with me is always a collaborative experience where you are the expert on you.

Experiential
Not just a conversation. We’ll cultivate experiences so that you can safely process what’s happened to you and practice healthy coping mechanisms.

Fun
Yes, really! It’s not all serious. We can explore the dark parts of life and share in humor, silliness, and joy.

Getting Started with Therapy

1. Schedule a Consultation

I’ll ask you a little about your goals, and you’ll have a chance to ask me about my approach, process, and any other questions you have. There’s no cost, and obligation to move forward. This is where we feel each other out. Most consults are over a secure virtual connection, but in-person consultations are also available.

2. Intake Session

If we agree to work together, we will schedule a 90-minute intake session. This is so that I can get a deeper sense of your history, strengths, and challenges. We’ll work together to tailor a treatment plan just for you that addresses your goals. We’ll also determine a time and cadence for therapy sessions.

3. Therapy Sessions

Therapy takes place at a pace that is comfortable for you and based on your treatment plan. Most clients meet for 60 minutes once per week or biweekly. Therapy can be brief and solution-focused or tailored for more long-term growth and support. I also offer extended EMDR intensives for people who feel ready for intensive work.
