Codependence & Trauma Therapy | Tucson, AZ
Therapy for codependence & emotional abuse
Amanda Gormley, LAC
Trauma Therapist | Tucson, Arizona
I am a trauma survivor who has learned to choose myself while maintaining healthy relationships. As a trained mental health therapist, it is my life's work to help others find their way to safety, freedom, and self-trust.
What other people think of you doesn’t have to define who you are. Learn how to break free from the impacts of codependency, enmeshment, and emotional abuse and live with more freedom, safety, and self-trust.
Clients come to me when:
People-pleasing and survival have defined who they are for too long.
Fears about relationships are standing in the way of the life they want for themselves.
They want to learn how to set healthy boundaries to protect themselves and their values.
They are questioning their worth.
They want to live fully in their values without fear.
How codependence and emotional abuse therapy with me works
When we lose ourselves to our relationships, we can start to question ourselves and our worth, even question who we are as a person.
Threshold Counseling is a space to understand the patterns that keep you focused on others’ needs instead of your own. Together, we find a solid footing so that you can connect with yourself, set healthy boundaries, and live fully in your values. Through this process, you will move toward a life rooted in safety, freedom, and self-trust.
-
Process painful memories and beliefs that feel stuck. Using bilateral stimulation alongside reflective and relational approaches, we gently work through experiences that continue to shape how you feel, relate, and move through the world.
-
Explore the stories you’ve been told — or have told yourself — about who you are. Together, we examine those stories to create space for a more compassionate and authentic understanding of yourself.
-
Through experiential exercises and dialogue, we explore patterns, protective responses, and different ways of experiencing yourself with greater curiosity and understanding.
-
Integrate hands-on tools to support emotional balance, self-understanding, and meaningful change.
-
Explore meaning and purpose through non-secular spiritual experiences like awe and resonance
You have Always Been Worthy
Healing begins when you learn to honor your own needs with the same compassion you offer everyone else.
Clients who work with me report:
Greater emotional resilience
More confidence in their own decisions
Honoring their needs without guilt
Healthier boundaries in relationships
Greater freedom to live according to their values
A stronger relationship with themselves
“Give your hearts, but not into each other’s keeping.”

Hi, I'm Amanda, a trauma therapist in Tucson, Arizona. Welcome to Threshold Counseling. This space is for people looking for secure footing after trauma or codependency.
My work as a therapist is grounded in evidence-based practice while also informed by my life experiences as a trauma survivor. It is my life's work to support others in developing lives rooted in freedom, safety, and self-trust.
When I am not meeting with clients, I am soaking up the beauty of the Sonoran Desert. I love hiking and sitting on my patio watching the monsoon roll in over the mountains. I am also a mom to two spunky kids and an enthusiastic starter of craft projects that don't always make it to completion.

Getting Started with Therapy
1. Schedule a Consultation
I’ll ask you a little about your goals, and you’ll have a chance to ask me about my approach, process, and any other questions you have. There’s no cost, and obligation to move forward. This is where we feel each other out. Most consults are over a secure virtual connection, but in-person consultations are also available.
2. Intake Session
If we agree to work together, we will schedule a 90-minute intake session. This is so that I can get a deeper sense of your history, strengths, and challenges. We’ll work together to tailor a treatment plan just for you that addresses your goals. We’ll also determine a time and cadence for therapy sessions.
3. Therapy Sessions
Therapy takes place at a pace that is comfortable for you and based on your treatment plan. Most clients meet for 60 minutes once per week or biweekly. Therapy can be brief and solution-focused or tailored for more long-term growth and support. I also offer extended EMDR intensives for people who feel ready for intensive work.
